2023 Charged Up

The 2023 Charged Up Robotics competition, presented by Haas, was an extraordinary event that brought together over 3,200 teams from around the globe. This diverse gathering of young minds represented a wide array of cultures, backgrounds, and approaches to problem-solving, all united by a shared passion for robotics and technology. The competition posed a unique challenge to the teams: to process game pieces in a way that symbolized bringing energy to their communities. This task was not just a game, but a metaphor for the larger goal of sustainable energy production and distribution. Teams were tasked with retrieving game pieces from designated areas, referred to as substations, and scoring them into a grid. This process mirrored the real-world challenge of harnessing and efficiently distributing energy. The competition placed a strong emphasis on the potential of energy storage and the critical role it plays in our world. It highlighted the importance of effectively storing and delivering renewable energy, a topic of increasing relevance in our efforts to combat climate change and move towards a more sustainable future. The Charged Up Robotics competition served as a platform for students to apply their technical skills and creativity in a practical setting. It encouraged them to think critically about global challenges related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #7. This goal focuses on ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all, a mission that resonates deeply with our team's values. The competition was more than just a contest; it was a celebration of innovation and teamwork. It inspired participants to consider their impact on energy consumption and explore ways they can make a difference. The event served as a reminder that each of us has a role to play in shaping the future of energy. The 2023 Charged Up Robotics competition was not just an event, but a journey of learning, growth, and inspiration. It was an opportunity for us to push our boundaries, learn from each other, and contribute to a cause larger than ourselves. We are incredibly grateful for the experience and look forward to participating in future competitions.
